Dr Ramnani is a Reader in Cognitive Neuroscience in the Psychology Department at Royal Holloway, University of London, where he runs a programme of research. His responsibilities also include teaching undergraduates and postgraduates, the supervision of PhD students, and he serve as Director of External Relations for the Department.
After completing a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Birkbeck College and a Masters degree in Neuroscience from the Institute of Psychiatry (University of London), Dr Ramnani completed a PhD in Behavioural Neuroscience at UCL, and was supervised by Prof. Chris Yeo. His postdoctoral training in neuroimaging took place first at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging (Institute of Neurology, UCL) where he worked with Prof. Dick Passingham. He then worked with Prof. Paul Matthews at the Centre for fMRI of the Brain (FMRIB, University of Oxford), and with Prof. Chris Miall at the University Laboratory of Physiology, Oxford (now the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics).
He regularly peer-reviews for leading neuroscience journals, grant-giving bodies including RCUK agencies, and engage in promoting and explaining science to the public. He is a member of the British Neuroscience Association (BNA) where he serves as the Meetings Secretary on the BNA Council.
