Stroke Research Day: Language in the Brain

Speaker: Dr Marco Catani, Natbrainlab, Institute of Psychiatry.

Special Event: Stroke Day

This event was organised for the subjects involved in the PhD study of Dr Stephanie Forkel. Subjects were invited to attend an informative morning of talks on stroke to enhance public engagement and improve awareness of the science behind stroke and stroke recovery. We have the talks of Professor Steve Williams, Dr Marco Catani and Dr Stephanie Forkel, available to watch (please see the posts below).

Dr Marco Catani heads the Natbrainlab team at the Institute of Psychiatry, and is also a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Maudsley Hospital. Dr. Catani has pioneered the use of novel neuroimaging techniques to examine networks underlying language, vision, and spatial awareness. He has contributed to the development of neuroanatomical models of cognition and behavior, and to the elucidation of the anatomic basis of cognitive and neuropsychiatric disorders. He has recently released a book, the ‘Atlas of Human Brain Connections.’ In 2012 he was awarded the Norman Geschwind Prize for Neurology.
